The Beginners Mindset and why it's so integral to innovation, creativity and optimism.

Do you know this concept by Shunryu Suzuki?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“In the beginners mind there are many possibilities, but in the experts mind there are few.”

Shoshin (初心) is a word from Zen Buddhism meaning "beginner's mind." It refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner would. The term is especially used in the study of Zen Buddhism and Japanese martial arts.

A great idea and thought process as it relates to a growth mindset & what is possible.⠀⠀⠀⠀

We’re beginning the week with this in mind and focusing on all the new things we can learn, do and improve upon. This is so important as as a Marketing Communications & Creative agency.

A new week, new beginnings, not getting stuck in the past, what we've done or not done before, or worried and anxious about the future.

It’s also so important when creating, innovating and supporting our clients through new brand launches, re-brands, company re-positionings, PR campaigns, or digital strategy.

How we’ve done things in past doesn’t dictate how we do things in future. And we surely don’t know everything either. That’s where learning, listening and being open is so imperative. Gaining inspiration and insights from peers, colleagues, clients, other industries.

Looking and listening. It’s a concept I look to instill with every teammate at The Creative Collective.

As creatives, brand builders, marketers, designers and communicators it’s important to consider that perspective.

Some thought process to consider as we start a new week.

Best,

Sarah
